What makes Tokyo Children's Academy so unique?
 
At Tokyo Children's Academy we care deeply for children, understand the importance of these formative years, and work hard to empower children at every stage and grade. We all know that this school choice should be the best situation for your child. Because we do not know exactly what the future holds, there is not and should not be a script for your child’s future. We must, therefore, work to allow your child to be intricately involved in crafting his/her potential. Academic preparation and personal lifelong values are an integral part of every student’s development at the Academy.
 
Tokyo Children's Academy’s philosophy is to teach the children new information as they are ready for it. Small class sizes and low student to teacher ratios facilitate the diversified curriculum. By incorporating daily computers, science, logic, and foreign language, we are able to expand the children’s academic opportunities and make school fun. By eliminating needless repetition and diversifying the academics, we are able to accelerate to meet each child’s needs. 
 
We firmly believe that learning is exciting, rewarding, and fun. Academically, we provide innumerable activities that foster high-level thinking, encouraging students to go far beyond factual material, encouraging them to think outside of the box, synthesizing and evaluating divergent materials. We are committed to maximizing individual development and minimizing boredom. Socially, we offer a rare environment where students are with intellectual peers who are also curious about virtually everything.

We believe that children learn best and develop a positive self esteem when:

  • The environment is intellectually stimulating
  • The coursework is rigorous and challenging enabling the student to continuously progress and stretch the limits of their knowledge and perception
  • They are encouraged to set high standards for themselves, experience making mistakes and mastering difficult tasks
  • There are no ceilings in a students education, students are able to proceed through the curriculum at a pace and depth consistent with their motivation and knowledge
  • Students work on real life problems that require a high level of independence and concentration
  • Students are assessed early and frequently so there is no time wasted re-learning what they have already learned
  • Needless drill and repetition are eliminated
  • They are able to participate in decision-making related to their learning
  • Their academic, ethical, emotional, social, aesthetic and physical needs are met
  • The environment is one of respect for intellectual diversity that is free from hostility, humiliation and taunting
  • They take responsibility for their behavior and the completion of work assigned within established standards for quality
  • Students are able to work with intellectual peers of similar age, interest and pace of learning
  • Parents and teachers work together for the benefit of the student
  • Children are exposed to foreign language and culture on a daily basis
  • Students are involved and help choose community service projects
  • Continuous progress is made and ample opportunities for gifted students to accelerate are provided
