Q: Why a school exclusively for children with advanced cognitive abilities?A: They need the opportunity for continuous progress; this is a basic educational right. All children have the right to learn new concepts in school every day.

Because, despite the belief that holding back the brightest students magically helps the slower ones, bringing the top down does not bring the bottom up.

Because children with advanced cognitive abilities, like all children, deserve the right to learn at the pace and depth of their intellectual capacity and motivation. All children deserve to learn new material and to be challenged to the extent of their capability in a nurturing and supportive environment.

Because, despite common myths, gifted children need to be nurtured and cultivated in order for their native ability to develop fully.

Q: What age students will be accepted at Tokyo Children's Academy?A: Any student, from the age of 3 through 14, that meets the eligibility requirements, can apply to Tokyo Children's Academy.
Q: Will transportation be provided to T.C. Academy?A: We currently have a bus service that is available to students.
A: T.C. Academy is located in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th floors of the Yoda Building in Minato-ku Shiba 3-15-13. Drop-off will be from 8:20-8:40 and dismissal from 3:20-3:35 (12:20-12:35 for half day).
Q: Will the students be grouped by grade level or age at T.C. Academy?A: Students will be grouped by learning goals, project goals and academic level. They will work with a variety of other students in different learning projects based on their needs. There are no grade levels, instead children are generally grouped as follows: Primary 3-5, Lower-Elementary 6-8, Upper-Elementary 9-11 and Middle school 12-14. However, there are exceptions to this. We place children where it is most appropriate to their unique level of development. Children will not be placed in a group or withheld from a group solely by chronological age.
Q: To what extent is T.C. Academy willing to take a child with a learning disability? A: Tokyo Children's Academy, as a private school for children with advanced cognitive abilities, has specific requirements for admission. Students with disabilities meeting the admission criteria and requiring special education services will be provided with those services.
Q: Can a student attend part-time?A: No, this is a full-time program. From 8:30 to 3:30 ( optional 8:30-12:30 for children 3 years old) Monday through Friday.
Q: Does T.C. Academy have an emergency preparedness plan?A: The emergency preparedness program is reviewed yearly, and students practice fire and earthquake drills several times a year.
Q: Do the students wear uniforms?A: Tokyo Children's Academy students adhere to a dress code that is presented in the handbook. This dress code provides expectations for appropriate attire without restricting students to a particular uniform.
Q: Do you offer a lunch program?A: There is not a lunch program at the academy, parents are required to pack a healthy lunch for their children everyday.
