Introvert Extravert
Gains energy in solitude Gains energy from interaction with others
Focused on inner thoughts and feelings Focused on people and things around them
Is reserved Is outgoing
Needs privacy Is usually open and trusting
Is contemplative and thoughtful Is action-oriented
Can mask feelings Usually shows feelings
Is reflective May be impulsive
Mentally rehearses before speaking Thinks out loud
Learns by observing Learns by doing
Avoids attention Seeks attention
Is uncomfortable with change Adapts quickly to new situations
Is loyal to a few close friends Makes lots of friends easily
Is quiet in large groups Is a risk-taker in groups
